Swiss specialists in orthodontics with many years of training and experience

After passing the state examination and obtaining a doctorate in dentistry, prospective specialists in orthodontics CH work for at least one year as general practitioners at university clinics, school dental clinics or in dental practices.

They then undergo three to four years of structured and supervised clinical and scientific training in orthodontics at one of Switzerland’s four university dental clinics.

In addition, they must present fully documented cases that they have treated themselves to a specialist commission appointed by the Swiss Dental Association and pass a practical and theoretical examination.

In the EU member states, the training requirements may vary in terms of time and content. In some cases, Master’s programs based on weekend courses are offered, which are not comparable with specialist dental training. Further details can be found at www.swissortho.ch
